My aim was to dedicate a large portrait to each of my two children. Portraits that reflect their age, personalities, and interests. Portraits that not only I, but also teenagers, can be happy with.

Scenic Faces
Every person has a story.
Traditions from which they come and which have shaped them.
Events that have changed their life. Places. Decisions. Other people.
It's a kind of network of influences that has brought us this far. We can't help but be embedded in this scenery.
And so the title: Scenic Faces. People in their environment that has made them who they were or are.
I am particularly fascinated by women in history, mythology, and in the present who have mastered their lives against many obstacles or who have failed:
Circe: the independent sorceress from Odyssey, masterly new interpreted in the compelling novel by Madeline Miller
Marjane Satrapi: artist, filmmaker and writer who opposed the system of oppression against women in Iran
Anne Boleyn: A bold and intelligent woman whose choices changed English history in the 16th century

Although Circe, Marjane Satrapi and Anne Boleyn come from vastly different eras and contexts, they are united by their extraordinary roles as women who exerted influence on their surroundings. Anne Boleyn changed English history, Circe embodies female power and independence in mythology, and Marjane Satrapi uses art and literature to advocate for freedom and equality. Each of them demonstrates, in her own way, that women can shape social developments — be it in history, mythology, or the present day. It's time to dedicate a triptych to them.
